Description

The successful applicant will play a key role in the delivery of several collaborative research projects in Gastroenterology particularly Upper GI and IBD. This post will provide experience that will facilitate an application for a higher research degree. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to apply for the associate PI programme in registered studies. This is a full-time post based at Lister Hospital to start on or after April 2024. 60% of the time (TBC) will be devoted to clinical Gastroenterology based research projects, and 40% to clinical service delivery. The post is for 12 months.

Main duties of the job


This is a full-time post based at Lister Hospital to start on or after April 2024. 60% of the time (TBC) will be devoted to clinical Gastroenterology based research projects, and 40% to clinical service delivery. The post is for 12 months. The post holder will be working alongside specialty registrar doctors in clinical gastroenterology and IMT1/2 level doctors. The successful applicants will play a key role in the delivery of collaborative research projects and these posts will provide experience that could facilitate a future application for a higher research degree. It will be expected that applicant will apply for assistant PI program where appropriate and submit and present their work locally and for national and international conferences as appropriate as well as for peer reviewed publication.

Person Specification
Qualifications / Training
Essential

Hold a current licence to practice from the General Medical Council
Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent
Completed core medial training or equivalent
Medical degree


Desirable

JAG accreditation in gastroscopy and /or colonoscopy


Previous Experience
Essential

Experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
Clinical audit experience


Desirable

Undergoing or completed higher specialist training in gastroenterology
Experience in clinical gastroenterology
Experience of clinical research
